Hells Canyon is the deepest river gorge in North America, with the north rim rising over 8,000 feet above river level. The Recreation Area protects three rivers that are designated Wild and Scenic: the Rapid, Imnaha and Snake. Consider exploring this remote canyon in a jet boat or raft, or take a hike or trail ride along part of the 900 miles of trails. Nez Perce petroglyphs and pictographs can be found in the caves and on rock walls in the canyon. |
